Cullinan who was the founder of the "The Texas Company" (which became Texaco in 1959), mvt and case marked for J.J. Sweeney Jewelry Co, Houston, Texas, 50mm, 18K gold OF original PP.Co case with "J S C" initials to rear, gold cuvette with Patek and retailer's signature ring as well as engraved "Joseph S. Cullinan 1913.," white enamel SS dial with 30-hour winding indicator, SW-SS, fully capped lever escapement with counterpoise, Guillaume balance with gold and platinum timing screws, diamond endstone, 21J, wolf's tooth winding, fausses-côtes pattern nickel damascene, s#161180 with matching serial number to cuvette signature ring and also with serial number repeated next to balance as required for submission to the Geneva Astronomical observatory. Gross weight of assembled watch 67.6 dwt (105.2 g). Joseph Stephen Cullinan founded "The Texas Company" in 1902 and served as its president until 1913, at which point The Texas Company controlled over 4% of American oil production. In 1959, "The Texas Company" was to change its corporate name to "Texaco," and in 2001, Texaco was to be purchased by the Chevron Corporation for $36 billion.

Mvt: Running, good winding indicator function, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, some typical micro-fine scratches and mild small surface spots; virtually flawless dial with few negligible micro-fine scratches; virtually mint hands; case shows light to medium wear, profuse micro-fine scratches to rear, subtle dent to reverse of band near 4, reduced engraving detail to initials with some areas of full loss; tight bow, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
